Community Development Corporation
Greater Galilee Community Development Corporation is a nonprofit organization providing programs and services, including economic development opportunities in the Greater Milwaukee community.
We broke ground for our Community Development Center Oct 29, 2016. Thanks to everyone for their support!
The mission of the Greater Galilee Community Development Corporation is established to promote individual empowerment in a community setting for Intergenerational care. GGCDC will provide community-based health and educational services for children and senior adults addressing the spiritual, psychological, social and physical needs of all who participate.
GGCDC is currently housed at Greater Galilee Baptist Church, which was established in 1920. It is one of the oldest African American Congregations in Milwaukee.
Greater Galilee has provided some solutions to the critical needs of our community for more than ninety years, by being active in the community; helping at-risk Milwaukee families within a framework of Christian ministries. This non profit-based service provider offers programs which have assisted families in the community, including one of the first Head-Start programs, credit union, and hot meals programs in the central city. Since 2010, we have provided over 7,000 toys for Christmas to central city children; served over 1,000 children with back-to-school supplies and book-bags; provided clothing donations for adults and children living in the areas.
Services and Programs
GGCDC will be housed in a new facility north of the current location of the church. These services will provide expansion of current programs already in place such as our Hot Meals, Clothing Give-Away and Gathering at The Crossroads ministry's physical and wellness services; in addition to new projects such as Senior Adults Services, Healthy Family Initiatives and Early Childhood Development programs.
