Annual Christmas party gives children a reason to smile, In her memory, Johnetta Borum's colleagues continued the party, recruiting other Greater Galilee, friends, family and associates from other churches and businesses to participate. Each year a committee contacts social workers at area schools, who work with teachers to select students most in need of a few joyous hours with a caring adult they've never met. Initially this was organized by a group of Milwaukee-area postal workers, the event brings unexpected brightness to local elementary school students. Some are homeless, living with aunties or friends. Most have never been taken out for a formal meal.The room filled up as sponsors found their children, bused in from 10 city schools. Many young girls arrived in what appeared to be the fanciest dress their family owned.
